WOL: http://www.worldoflogs.com/reports/rt-grtggvg3fvea6w29/

Rotation: Ok, I am not sure how to do this... so I am going to wing it - sorry it is a bit jumbled and disorganized.

I usually hit Sinister StrikeX2 as the tanks are getting aggro, and Slice and dice to have it up right away
Then I hit Tricks of the Trade, and my Trinket Mark of Supremecy to up my Attack power by 1024 for 20 seconds, and Killing spree
While the cool downs for those are going I will start stacking Sinister Strike for Combo Points, and then if Slice and dice has cooled down already, then I Slice and Dice
I hit Adrenaline rush, to give myself rapid energy for 15 seconds.
Then I stack up SS and do rupture, then stack SS and do Eviscerate
Then I stack SS and do Slice and Dice again.
Every time Tricks of the Trade is available again, I use it... and basically repeat. It depends on cooldowns and such.
For research, I use the profiler to check my enchants and gems, and Captcaveman helps me.
Addons? I have DBM, Recount, and a bunch of others...
Strengths: I guess I think I do pretty good damage when well buffed
Weaknesses: Sometimes when there are a lot of things going on at once I lag a bit and find it hard to determine what I should be hitting.
Additional comments: I use Deadly poison and Instant Poison on my weapons, and I am ALWAYS up for help!
Thanks!!!!

Thanks for the post.

With most of our Rogues being new to the guild, and me lacking experience with Rogues in general, and lots of Rogues being a part of each one of our raids, do we need some assistance in optimizing our Rogue performance? Whos the class leader of Rogues nowadays?

I remember Ekstwntythre really helped out the DPS output of a number of our Rogue folk. Did someone out there database his knowledge so we can build on it?

Thx,

-Z

Honestly, I don't know how this guild works yet very well, so I don't know what Class Leaders are. I am not sure who that would be. I do know that my dps went up a lot when I started understanding the workings of Tricks and when to Feint and my trinket really seems to make a difference.

I never knew Ekstwntythre, so I don't know really about people writing down his knowledge, I would be interested in learning if there is info out there. I know my dps could get higher with more knowledge. I like using Elitistjerks too. There is a lot of good info there.

Hope this helps!

It is so unfortunate that x23 left. I'll try my best to help based on my knowledge about rogues from my reading.

Spec and glyphs look good. However, gem choice is a bit funny. Generally speaking concerning ArmPen for any classes (unless rogues are different), you shouldn't gem any ArmPen at all until you are close to the ArmPen cap (including trinket procs), which is 1400. After excluded ArmPen gem, you need to check the spreadsheet to see whether gemming Agi or Attack power is better for you. Once you have the answer, stick to that gem type and its variants and gem all the sockets accordingly. Also, you are well above Spell hit cap (with Precision, only 237 hit is needed assuming 3% hit debuff from Shadow Priests or Moonkins), so 20 hit gem is no good.

I see that you use a slow ilvl 251 MH and fast ilvl 264 OH. This part I'm not certain. Normally it is preferable to use slow MH and fast OH but your ilvl 264 axe has higher dps than the other axe. Have you checked in the spreadsheet to confirm your current setting provides better dps? Honestly I really don't know the answer for this case.

Concerning your WoL, you did quite well for Saurfang but the dps was a bit lower for other high movement fights. Well, I believe many people (including me) have similar problem too. One thing I notice is that your Slice and Dice uptime was ok for Saurfang (although still not as high as other rogues) but lower for other fights. I believe the problem is because apparently you are still using a fixed rotation which is not ideal. According to this EJ thread, combat rogues' current priority is like this:
Quote:
Priority:
* Start up Slice and Dice however you please, really.
* Use cooldowns whenever possible. Killing spree + blade flurry, blade flurry +
adrenaline rush can be used. Adrenaline rush + killing spree is not recommended
due to energy capping.

1. Keep SnD up, no matter what the number of combo points are.
2. 5 point Eviscerate.
3. ToT when off cooldown, especially with 2pc T10.

The key to maintain high SnD uptime is point 1. You can't wait the whole cycle of Eviscerate and Rupture before using SnD again. You need to use SnD whenever it is about to drop. Also, it won't be easy to keep an eye on SnD duration all the time without an addon. There are many addons that can do the job. Power Auras Classic is the one I frequently suggest to people.

Another interesting thing here is it looks like the current recommendation for Combat Rogues is don't use Rupture at all. Rupture is probably going to remain useless for adds that are going to die in a few seconds, though there is rumor that it will be buffed in the next minor patch so you should stay tuned.

And since you have mentioned Feint, don't forget Vanish is a way more efficient aggro dump (100% dump unless resisted). The only downside is its long cooldown. Therefore, each has its uses in different situations.

I think it's about all I would like to comment. I'll try my best to help if you have any questions.

Theare are only things I would change is the use of Rupture and initial SND. In BC Rupture had to be up at all times but its damage seems very lackuster now. I would use SND after the very first SS. With a single combo point (if you don't get a SS crit proc) SND will still last 15 seconds. THat is plenty of time to get a full stack to evicerate. You very well amy be able to do a 1cp SND, 5cp evic, 2 cp SND and so on. Your weapons are in the right place as the slower weapon brings larger SS. Lastly is feint. Rogues should never really need to use feignt. If you keep Tricks on cd all the time, the tank should have plenty of aggro. If you are tricking another rogue, use vanish when you are around 105% of tanks threat and your aggro will completely drop. Feignt reduces your aggro by 3k total. That comes to less than 1 second of dps used for 30 energy. You are much better off just not attacking for a few seconds.
